Terms of use

Effective October 10, 2026

The short version: only record people who know and agree, follow the law where you are, and check AI-made transcripts and summaries before you rely on them. The app is provided as it is, and the free allowance may change.

Agreement

These terms apply to the Note Taker Android app and its transcription and summary service, published by EthanApp (“we”, “us”). By using the app, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

Record lawfully and with consent

You are responsible for how you use the app. Before you record a lecture, meeting or interview with other people, make sure you have their consent and are allowed to record. Laws differ between countries and states, and many require the consent of everyone being recorded. Don’t use the app to record people secretly, to break confidentiality agreements, or for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive.

Your content

Your recordings, transcripts and summaries belong to you. You allow us and our service providers to process the audio and text you send only to create your transcripts and summaries, as described in the privacy policy. You confirm you have the right to send that content for processing.

AI output can be wrong

Transcripts and summaries are made by AI and may contain mistakes: misheard words, wrong names or numbers, mixed-up speakers or missing details. Accuracy varies by language and audio quality, and languages marked Beta or Experimental in the app may have more errors. Always check important details against the recording, and don’t rely on the app alone for medical, legal, financial or other important decisions.

Free minutes and changes to the service

The app includes free transcription minutes each month. We may change the amount of free minutes, add paid options, or change, suspend or stop features at any time. We may limit or block access to protect the service from abuse or overload. Transcription and summaries need an internet connection and may sometimes be unavailable.

Acceptable use

  • Don’t try to get around the free allowance or other limits.
  • Don’t access our server other than through the app, or try to disrupt, overload or reverse engineer it.
  • Don’t use the app to process content you have no right to record or share.

Keep your own copies

Your library is stored only on your phone. If you delete a recording, clear the app’s data, uninstall the app or lose your phone, we can’t recover it. Share or copy anything you need to keep.

No warranty

The app and service are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, EthanApp is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost recordings, lost profits or decisions made based on transcripts or summaries. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above. If you keep using the app after a change, the updated terms apply.
